Dual Enrollment
Dual Enrollment (DE) is a program that allows high school students to take college classes and earn credit at both the high school and college. Tuition and mandatory fees are paid by the state of Georgia. The program is primarily geared toward 11th and 12th graders.
For help with the process, refer to the NPHS Dual Enrollment Student Checklist
Here are some Thinking Points when Considering if Dual Enrollment is right for you
1.Are you READY for the responsibility of managing a college course?
2. College courses require more independent work and more student responsibility.
3. Can you advocate for yourself? It will be your responsibility to speak with your professor and the college admission department for any college course questions.
4. Do you have transportation to and from the college? Do you have a parking Pass?
5. What are the admission requirements and the admission deadlines? DO NOT wait until the deadline date to apply
6. Is a standardized test score one of the requirements? If so, plan to take this before completing the DE application.
Please note that if an SAT/ACT score is required, these are only administered on certain dates and the scores can take up to 4 weeks to become available to students.
7.How many classes would you like to take at NPHS and how many would you like to take at the college?
8. If you want to be a full-time college student, you must take at least four (4) three-hour college courses and a minimum of 12 college hours. Anything less, you will have to fill your remaining schedule with high school courses.
9. To view an approved list of college courses and their high school equivalents click HERE
10. Have you considered if the courses you want to take will transfer to another college/university you are considering attending after graduation? Contact the admissions office for this information.
